In recent years, traders and investors have increasingly turned to social media to discuss their investments. Now, interested parties can get a scientific look at what is being discussed on a weekly, monthly, and even hourly basis.
Provided by Social Market Analytics, here is the social media outlook for Tuesday, June 12.
Arena Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ARNA) is trading at a 52-week high near $7.50 today. ARNA is waiting for the FDA to make a decision on a weight loss drug called Lorcaserin. The decision is expected to be made by June 27.
Valero Energy (NYSE: VLO) is trading up about 4% from Monday's close of $21.85. Valero share prices hit a low of $16.40 and a high of $28.68 in the past 52 weeks.
Texas Instruments (NASDAQ: TXN) shares slipped on Monday after the company announced a change to its second quarter outlook, cutting revenue guidance and earnings per share.
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is trading near Monday's closing price. Apple announced several new products at its World Wide Developers Conference Monday. Investors were hoping for, but did not receive, news on an updated iPhone and Apple TV. That lack of news may have caused a sell-off as shares of Apple traded lower Monday afternoon.
Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) is trading at $27.22, but is still down about 28% from its IPO.
Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is currently trading down about 2% from yesterday's closing price of $586.50. Google traded lower on Monday, perhaps on investor concerns about Apple's announcement of a new map app.
EnergySolutions (NYSE: ES) plunged about 50% yesterday after the company named board member David Lockwood CEO and cut its outlook for EBITDA in 2012. EnergySolutions closed at $1.62 yesterday and is now trading up about 10% on the session.
Arena Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ARNA).
