Anadarko Petroleum Corp was incorporated in the State of Delaware. It is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company. The Company's three operating segments are: Oil and gas exploration and production: This segment explores for and produces natural gas, crude oil, condensate, and natural gas liquids (NGLs), and plans for the development and operation of the Company's liquefied natural gas (LNG) project. The Company's operations are located onshore United States and in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, as well as in Algeria, Mozambique, Ghana, China, Brazil, Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, New Zealand, Colombia, South Africa, and other countries. Midstream: This segment engages in gathering, processing, treating, and transporting Anadarko and third-party oil, natural-gas, and NGLs production. The Company owns and operates gathering, processing, treating, and transportation systems in the United States for natural gas, crude oil, and NGLs. Marketing: This segment sells much of Anadarko's production, as well as third-party purchased volumes. The Company actively markets oil, natural gas, and NGLs in the United States; oil from Algeria, China, and Ghana; and anticipated LNG production from Mozambique. The Company's competitors include national oil companies, major oil and gas companies, independent oil and gas companies, individual producers, gas marketers and major pipeline companies, as well as participants in other industries supplying energy and fuel to consumers. The operations and properties of the Company are subject to numerous federal, provincial, regional, state, tribal, local, and foreign laws and regulations governing the release of pollutants or otherwise relating to environmental protection.
