iPad 3's Biggest Competitor Will Be…
A company that rhymes with “oogle.”
The news comes from Google's own Eric Schmidt, who told this Italian publication that the company is getting ready to produce a tablet of the “highest quality.” The tablet is due in six months – roughly to two to three months after the iPad 3 is expected to debut. (Assuming you believe the iPad 3 will arrive this winter, that is; some rumors suggest it won't arrive till late spring.)
And just like that 2012 got a lot more interesting.

The iPad 3 is expected to be the tablet leader, but if Google is serious about tablet production:
- We could see some serious Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) competition from the Google/Motorola (NYSE: MMI) alliance. And don't expect Google to stop at tablets – the company will attack Apple in anyway it can.
If Google is successful in its tablet venture, it could mean that:
- Hewlett-Packard's (NYSE: HPQ) WebOS dreams will never come true.
- Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) may finally have to throw in the towel and adopt another OS.
